Fantastic again performs his Gumby-man contortions, this time to stow his briefcase overhead while flying coach. In Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer, our heroes get what they deserve: a decent action flick with a jolt of visual wow. There are some imaginary places viewers just don't want to go, and that's into the john with Mr. Still, they deserved better treatment than they got in director Tim Story's first pass at them, 2005's Fantastic Four, whose low point featured an elongated arm grabbing a roll of toilet paper. They bicker too much, and half the time I wish they would just shut up and save the world already. But nothing about the Fantastic Four ever veers too far from the dweeby and the wholesome, even when the flambé Human Torch/Johnny Storm ( Chris Evans) joshes the metamorphic Thing/ Ben Grimm ( Michael Chiklis) about making whoopee with his girlfriend. She also, at times, tends to lose her clothes.
